Asia-related majors and minors at MU
International studies (East Asian studies): An individually designed major with a strong multicultural and global focus. The emphasis in East Asian studies focuses on creating an understanding and awareness of the culture, history, politics, geography and languages of the East Asian countries, with an emphasis in China, Japan or Korea.
International studies (South Asian studies): An individually designed major with a strong multicultural and global focus. The South Asian studies emphasis offers courses in history, politics, philosophy, religion, culture, social life and languages of India.
Chinese studies: Study Chinese language and culture through a variety of courses and activities at MU and in China.
Japanese studies: Study Japanese language and culture through a variety of courses and activities at MU and in Japan.
Korean studies: Study Korean language and culture through a variety of courses and activities at MU and in Korea.

MU Center for English Language Learning: English language instruction programs for non-native speakers to help prepare them to pursue an academic degree in the United States.
MU International Center: Facilitates all thing international at MU: international initiatives, international student and scholar services, and study abroad programs. The center’s living in Columbia information is very helpful for those new to the city.
MU Institute for Korean Studies: MU’s central hub for exploring Korean studies through research, teaching, campus programming and public engagement.
MU Confucius Institute: Shares Chinese language and culture with the MU and Columbia communities.
MU Info: A weekly email and online newsletter of announcements from across campus.
